| Jim grew up at the base of Storm King Mountain and with Black Rock Forest as his back yard. As a child he was always out hiking, exploring, building forts, riding his bike, and exploring his natural surroundings. He graduated with a degree in Outdoor Environmental Education and Outdoor Leadership from SUNY Cortland where he also was a student leader for many of the outdoor trips that the college offered. He went on to work for 10 years as a counselor and teacher at a camp and boarding school in Lake Placid where he led hiking, canoeing, skiing, and rock climbing trips in the High Peaks of the Adirondacks. Jim is a "46'er" and has eight more peaks to go for his second round. He has hiked "The Great Range" 3 times and also climbed the 4 highest peaks in NY in one day! For three years Jim was a expedition trip leader taking teenagers into the backcountry for wilderness adventures. He led trips in Scotland, Glacier National Park, and Spain. On these trips he was on the trail for up to two weeks at a time and enjoyed every minute of it! |
